SoCal ROC's Superintendent Dr. Laurie St. Gean Retires After Serving Over 30 Years in Education
The Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SoCal ROC) celebrated the service of Dr. Laurie St. Gean during the January 12, 2017 Board Meeting. She was awarded certificates from the offices of Council Woman Heidi Ashcraft, LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce. She was also given a plague from SoCal ROC’s Board of Education and a plant from the Employee Representative Group. Dr. St. Gean retired after serving more than 30 years in education. She was named SoCal ROC’s superintendent in January 2015, succeeding Dr. Christine Hoffman. During her two year tenure, Dr. St. Gean has assisted SoCal ROC through some very turbulent times. One of her major accomplishments was helping SoCal ROC secure the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant which is a large portion of the schools budget. Dr. St. Gean officially retired on January 31, 2017. Dr. Atlas Helaire has been appointed the superintendent as of February 1, 2017.
