Our Certified Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare students to sit for the AAMA National
Certification Exam to become a Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) and to jumpstart their medical career.
Learn Valuable Industry Skills!
The course includes instruction in clinical skills such as vital signs, assisting with exams and with minor surgery, basic lab procedures, and performing EKGs, monitoring heart arrhythmias, and performing venipuncture, skin puncture, and injections. The administrative skills include receptionist duties, appointment scheduling, and managing patient records. After successful completion of the classroom portion of course, the 160-hour unpaid externship, and passing the national exam, the students receive the Certificate of Competency.

Thank you for your interest in enrolling in the SoCal ROC Certified Medical Assisting program.
In order to enroll in the program, students must:
Be at least 18 years old
Provide proof of a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or GED (translated into English)
Sign a Student Waiver and Release Form
MUST show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
Purchase of apparel and materials is required. Please contact registration for full list.
Notice: Nail extension of any kind (i.e. Acrylics/Extensions/Gel-X/Gel Builder) is not allowed while enrolled in the program due to sanitary purposes and industry standards.
Prior to the commencement of the second semester of the course, students must submit the following prerequisites:
Proof of a NEGATIVE MANTOUX TEST or NEGATIVE CHEST X-RAY (Must be current in
order to extern, within 3 months of extern start date)
Proof of completing the HEPATITIS B vaccine series (3 injections) or sign a vaccine waiver
Proof of the VARICELLA and Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) vaccines or sign a vaccine waiver
Proof of the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough booster) vaccine
Proof of current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers and First Aid cards only
The following requirements must be met to receive a Certificate of Competency from SoCal ROC:
Students must complete 720 hours of classroom instruction.
Students may not miss more than 5 days of class instruction. All absences must be made up with
approval of the instructor to ensure that the student completes the 720 hour CAAHEP requirement.
Students must earn an A or B in the class.
Students must complete 160 unpaid hours of supervised externship (OJT).
Students must apply for and pass the national CMA (AAMA) Certification Examination. The fee for the exam is included in the course fee.
In order to apply for the national exam, the applicant must provide a Social Security number on the application form.
Complete in 2 Semesters: Monday - Thursday from 8:00am - 3:00pm
