Emergency Medical Technician

Take the first step in the pathway to your new career. Become an Emergency Medical Technician at the basic level and prepare to pass the National Registry Exam (NREMT).
Students gain invaluable medical skills and knowledge that can not only lead to employment now but set our students up for future healthcare positions. Working as an EMT can lead to emergency careers such as a paramedic or firefighter, and is a great stepping stone for those seeking higher level of medical training such as Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Physician and counts as clinical experience for students interested in applying to medical or physician assistant school.
Learn Valuable Industry Skills!
Students will learn first aid and life-saving skills for trauma and medical conditions such as shock, respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies, immobilizing injured limbs, and assisting with emergency childbirth. The ambulance ride-along is part of the course requirement.

Thank you for your interest in enrolling in the SoCal ROC Emergency Medical /First Responder
program. The following is information about the program.
High school prerequisites:
Be a high school Senior, Complete the Emergency Medical/First Responder course with a Certificate of Competency
Have a C or better in Math and Science
Must be at least 18 years old prior to the course completion
Possess a current American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider card only
If an adult, provide proof of a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or GED
In order to register for the national exam, a Social Security number is required. Once you have successfully completed the course, you will be required to have a Live Scan in order to register for the National Registry certification and the Los Angeles County certification. Please review the attached Disqualifying Penal Code Section.
In order to participate in the ride-a-long, you must provide proof of a NEGATIVE MANTOUX TEST or NEGATIVE CHEST X-RAY (To be dated within 6 months of the end of the semester.)
